He had the bare minimum requirement for the size, but, after a while-he didn't seem happy anymore.
He's a little over a year old and I think he's in love with this new enclosure. I'd have to say he probably has right at a foot of bedding to burrow in, and multiple other niteangel products (like their multi-chamber burrow hides or large dust bath) can fit within it, as well as his large wheel.
Normally the issue is fitting the wheel, but not in this enclosure.
I also had the room to add two types of bedding as well as some other textures for him to get enrichment out of (but in smaller portions).
He seems a lot happier here, and, I'm glad to know the lid is not only secure, but heavy.
My cats always tried to figure out a way to get him and we hated that for Rocco, AND it was scary.
Getting this I would have to say-makes that impossible. There's no way for them to get up the lid other than a small porthole (which you might see in the video). And even then, I believe the lid is farrr to heavy to get off. But it is still supportive in all ways.
I'd also like to vouch for the packaging conditions. This product is packed very meticulously, and even comes with gloves to protect the clear portions of the enclosure. And, one of the pieces of the plexi comes for the bottom of the enclosure to help protect the it further.
I would 100% get this if you're considering getting this baby. It has so much room, it does not hold in odors (I was worried about ventilation but heard so many good things about the nite angel which looks just like this but twice as expensive so went with this). It is relatively easy to put together IF you do it a little diffrent than the instructions say. So they tell you to attach the plexi glass to the sides and then put the sides on. If you don't align it 100% perfectly you will not be able to attach the sides and front. However after fighting for a bit to get my second side on (my first I lined up well. The second I just couldn't get it perfectly adjusted) I decided to put the plexi glass on first (make sure the piece with the round hole is in the upper rear corner. The longer hole belongs in the upper front corner.) Then put the double sideded tape on the wooden window panels (do a test run to ensure you are putting it on the right side of the wooden panel (the side that will face inside the cage). If it is not the right side you won't be able to slide it on). Then run your hand around the areas where the tape is to seal it. This made it 10x easier to put together doing it this way.If feels pretty sturdy once put together. My only complaint is I wish they used a better hinge. Something stiffer so the cover had a harder time just falling down into the closed position or they created a brace system with a stick to keep it proped open.I am super happy I got this cage. My little guy got a great place to run around and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. It also is built pretty well. Lots of room for stuff your little hammie needs. (Your wheel should be a minimum of 8" for dwarfs and 10" for syrian/teddybears). Also to s of room for multiple substrates and hides. (You should have a minimum of 6" depth of bedding for dwarf and 8" for syrian/teddy bears). I have not been able to ask for a replacement for the broken part because we had rescued our hamster that evening and needed a space for him. Other than those issues I'm happy with the purchase. I do feel it is worth half what I paid- considering I have a handmade enclosure I built for less than the price of thus and significantly more sturdy. I suppose paying for convenience has its flaws 😭💔
