   UPDATE: Puppy has now grown to 12lbs, still holding strong. He still hasn't been able to topple it over. Chewed on it but on the other side it still looks good.Original Review: We just got this yesterday. Very beautiful and functions well. We got a 10 week old, 4lb shih tzu pup and we keep him in the kitchen away from the carpet until he is potty trained. He isn't able to make it budge and it is low enough for us to step over it.I was worried that no instructions were included but it was there. The gate was easy to put together. Didn't really need it to assemble, I just remembered what it look like. BUT to lock it in place, I did it wrong. I put the black knobs of the screws in the front, because common sense told me it looked more aesthetically pleasing to cover the holes in the front (as shown in my picture). Doing it this way, it looks great but the gate comes apart! Following the instructions, I moved the black knobs to the back and VOILA! It locked and didn't come apart. But I'm not happy with the holes in the front. Why put holes in the front, they could have stopped drilling 3/4 of the way from the back side to avoid holes in the front side! Still it is beautiful and functional.

   Perfect for us. My old dog took a bad spill down the stairs. Now, he can not get to them. The railing is easy for a person to step over, but it stops my dog. It looks good, and matches the stairs really well.

   A while ago I inquired whether this gate had to be used with both panels together or whether they could be used as two separate stand alone gates. I was told no however as you can see, as long as the door isn’t too wide, you can use this product for two separate doors.

   Just received today and already in use. I am an 80 year old female and needed something to gate off my back patio area for my chihuahua. I am using this for outside. I know its for inside but looked painted and finished wood so I am using it outside. It was a little short to go across so I put my white metal gate in the excess and it fits perfectly. I was quite surprised to find this gate was heavy and will not tip over easily. It weighs a good weight and the wire is very heavy. Very happy and so is Jasper, my dog. A++++++

   I like this gate a lot. If I could change anything it would be the height of it. I didn't realize it was 21 inches tall. So far, my dogs haven't tried to jump over it. I wanted to block off the front door area because the dogs would rush the front door when we came in, and I was afraid they'd run out when we have a dog sitter over.I gave it a score of 4 because the stabilizers that come with it don't fit all the way through the holes. I got some long bolts, washers and wingnuts to put in it for stabilization, and those worked. It's appeasing to the eye, nice color wood, and easy to put together.

   I read the reviews about possible wood splitting but thought it wouldn’t happen to me. Well, it did. I used cement glue to fix it (which looks awful because it’s white) because I was desperate for something to block my stairs and didn’t want to return it and wait any longer. My babies love climbing the stairs but it’s not safe. I contacted the seller to tell him my issue and pleaded for a partial refund or partial replacement. He was so nice and replaced the product within a week! He suggested not to use a drill but to hand screw it in (they should include that in the instructions for people that don’t know better). This works great for us where nothing else does, that we have seen. It is easy to move for our almost 3 year old, but she knows not to climb up the stairs without permission. Our 16 month old doesn’t know how to move it yet. But to fix this, we plan to just put something heavy in front of the gate and that will solve that issue. It’s also nice that we can easily step over it, which is nice when you have Littles trying to follow you up the stairs.

   Love this gate! We use it at the bottom of our stairs for our 1-year-old. We have an oddly shaped stairwell that doesn’t work with traditional baby gates. However, this one works perfectly! The base is sturdy and she can’t tip or pull it away. Older kids can easily step over it, but we imagine that once she’s old enough to be able to do that, stairs won’t be a concern anymore. We’ve received many compliments on the style too. Great buy, if a bit expensive.

   For the area we wanted to place this gate, we needed to have it opened all of the way and be sturdy enough for a baby to lean on. We purchased the extra supports. We had to make the opening slot wider to fit over the bottom of the gate, but now it is very sturdy.

   Low profile, so it doesnt block the fireplace view. Side extension wood bars could have been a little longer to allow for more disrance to open for fireplace door swing. Also if my grandbaby pulls on it, it will fall towards her. We will try to figure out anchoring it or weighting it better, but it does exactly what we wanted. It is a safety deterrent to a hot fireplace.
