Rabbit Hutch
Rabbit Hutch Dimensions
Rabbits require a hutch that allows them to move around freely. In the rabbit cage, it is best to utilize materials that are difficult to chew. Giant rabbit types demand larger cages.
Rabbits weighing 12 pounds and up require a minimum of 30 x 36 inches and a height of 16-18 inches.
Rabbits weighing 7-12 pounds require 24-30 inches.
Smaller breeds will require a cage with a minimum size of 18-24 inches.
What To Look For In A Rabbit Hutch
Choose the appropriate cage size. Smaller and larger rabbits require different capacity cages. Make certain that the cage you purchase is large enough for your rabbit. Cages should be at least fourteen inches tall, or tall enough for the rabbit to sit erect without hitting her head on the floor.
Allow your rabbit around five square feet of area in the cage. You may need less for smaller rabbits, but they should have plenty of room to run around.
Purchase a rabbit cage for indoor use. Rabbit cages that are kept indoors can be restricting for your rabbit. Make sure the cage has enough space for your rabbit. You should also be able to open the cage to allow him to have lots of exercise.
Construct a bunny condo. Bunny condos are larger cages that provide more space for your rabbit to run around in. A bunny condo can be made out of a number of materials, such as wood, metal, or old furniture.
