It doesn't take up much space and dogs take to it quickly. It consists of 3 layers: 1) a bottom tray (gray), 2) a green layer for the grassy mat to sit on (keeps the mat in place), and 3) the green grassy matt on top. I would recommend purchasing it.

Can't speak for any other brands, but this one seems well built and easy to clean. Whether your pet takes to it well is going to vary, but the product itself is great. I put mine near the door to our apartment for when our dog refuses to go out because of bad weather or in the middle of the night when she's got to go quickly and can't let us know quick enough to get her outside. Given we live in an apartment, she's skittish, and is more of an indoor dog anyways, this has been a godsend. Highly recommend trying it.
