The window on the cage allows the light in and fresh air circulation. Cat cages have a secondary function where they keep animals which might injure your pet out. Besides, 6 landing platforms are perfect for giving your feline friend perches to pounce from, while the oversized door opens and closes with the help of a single latch. In a word, this outside cat enclosure is an ideal place for single or multiple pets, like cats, dogs, raccoons, squirrels, foxes, or other pets.

Our cats absolutely love it, I feel like this was a great deal and it’s held up well over a year now! We did have to replace the roof last year but that was very easy and we put corrugated metal, which was cheap and should last forever.
There were some cons, however. It was quite difficult to assemble. The instructions assert that you shouldn't use power tools, but having assembled it in just under three hours with a drill, I can't possibly imagine how they expect anyone to assemble it by hand (let alone in the thirty minutes predicted). Also, handling the wood dyed my hands orange! And the shelves are EXTREMELY flimsy. I hesitated to even install them, since I have a very large maine coon who I suspected might snap them in half. No breakages as of yet, but I fully anticipate having to replace the shelves with sturdier wood at some point in the future.
Lastly, a word of warning: if your cat attempts to climb the wire mesh, they WILL hurt themselves. One of my cats decided it would be a good idea to climb to one of the shelves instead of leaping from the ground, and he tore his claw quite badly. I'm not knocking any stars off because of it (he's a stupid cat, admittedly, and I can't blame the mesh for his silliness), I'm just warning you that it's a possibility. Make sure your kitties stay safe out there!
I put it up against the side of the house and made a cat door through the window. I also altered the shelves so she could get in and out. Cat loves going out and laying in the sun.
When the two boxes came, I was ready for the bright orange! It was NOT! It was a natural wood color that looked maybe clear stained...but anyway I took advise of other reviews and kept track of what panels were in what box (important as soon they all look alike). They have the screw holes made on certain sides and after I figured out what that meant it was fairly easy. We built a platform to set it on, and screwed the catio onto that to keep it stable. That brought it up 8 inches. We took the screen off the back middle panel and secured the catio around a window (took the screen off of that) so the cats have free access to go in as they please.
I researched catios and decided on this one, and we are very very pleased with it. I hope they offer it again, as it's a great addition for our cats!
