Its not sturdy: ok, if u do a bad job building and tightening it wont hold. Also, over time, any item with vibration had the possibility of becoming loose. I made sure it was tight and it is pushed against a wall for added stability.
Cat won’t fit: i’d say any cat that is younger and fit won’t have a problem. My cat was found outdoors and is only about 1 year so it’s perfect for him. If your cat is fat, well…get something else!
For under $60, it’s great! Color is great and function is great. My cat doesn’t love it to the moon but he’s still getting used to it and liking it more with each day.
For the value, and overall…this is great. Most of the complaints seem over zealous anyway.
3/15/22 still holding up and my cat is an absolute nut for his God perch.
Pros: Price, Size of the Tower.
Cons: Assembly instructions could be improved by labeling individual parts, Making all post scratching post. The balls need to be real balls or plastic balls with bells in them. They tore the ball of the string in the first day and the stuffing from the ball was in a couple of places. I hot glued a plastic ball w/ bell and they love that so much better. Also making the compartments bigger for people that have multiple cats.
My cons are just suggestions on improvements. Would I buy again. Most definitely.
The cats in the photo are obviously edited in, this unit is really not designed for large (aka, really fat) cats. I have a chonker myself and she fits on it just fine. I ultimately got it for a new kitten that's 6 months old-ish and he loves it. A little catnip spray and they're both happy with it. Anyway, if you look at the measurements provided the size should come as no surprise to anybody.
On a flat surface it's pretty stable. It might be a little shaky on deep pile carpets until it settles in. Construction is sturdy. Materials are about what I expected considering the price (low density fiber board, rigid plastic and reasonably good fabric).
Overall pretty happy with this purchase.
.......
This is definately made for a kitten sized kitty. It takes a while to assemble and it’s important to assemble it tightly. It’s not built really sturdy. That said, I was going to return it, but my kitty started taking to it so we decided to reinforce the areas we felt needed more stability and keep it until she out grows it and then donate it to someone who fosters abandoned kittens.
I found the seller to be very interactive and very easy to work with. They responded to all of my emails and messages and as such, in the end when we decided to keep it, they were also very kind. I highly suggest reading all of the reviews before you purchase this scratch post. It is very nice and in the same breath very small platforms. The rest I have already listed.
The seller made this much easier. Thank you very much
Now onto the color, it matches perfectly. I got the dark charcoal color and it was precisely the same tone as the pictures.
Stability and size are great. I have a petite 8lb female, a muscly 10lb male, and a chonky 18lb female (new one). They all, including Ms. Zoe Chonkers fit easily and can balance themselves quite well on it. In fact, Tinkerbell and Zoe are snoozing in the two cubbies as I type this. I don't know what kind of cats you guys are keeping, but maybe you shouldn't domesticate mountain lions, just sayin'.
If I end up getting more cats and get my official crazy cat man badge, then I will be buying more of these trees, guaranteed.
I was pleasantly surprised that there wasn't a retail box in the brown Amazon box. (No box-in-a-box.)
The platforms are solid MDF, the through-holes are cleanly drilled, the majority of the bolt holes are counter-sunk, and the bolts themselves screw into metal (brass-colored) mounts.
The instructions were a little light on details (the letters on the parts in the assembly steps didn't seem to correspond to the parts list, which itself was hard to understand), and all measurements were metric only, but with a little trial and error, I successfully got it put together without assistance in 15-20 minutes. (Hint: the thinnest poles are supports inside the little "houses".) I thought I had a problem near the end, but it turned out a kitten was laying on one of the bolts. The kit came with exactly the number of parts needed (including the required hex wrench) and nothing extra.
Then it was time to move it. When I lifted it, nothing wiggled or moved, and the whole structure felt solid. (I only tightened the bolts down as far as I could comfortably do it with the long end in the bold and by turning the short end with my bare hands.) It easily survived being transported to another room, and the kittens seem to be enjoying it so far!
It fairly tall (certainly taller than my average-sized 7-year-old son). It should give the kittens places to explore and new heights to challenge themselves to, and as they grow, multiple places to relax.
People are saying it's too small- when we put it together and initially looked at it, it looked small but the two cats that use it fit in and around it perfectly, even on the top part.
We've had no issues with sturdiness- we've only had it a few days but our two cats play on it super rough and it hasn't budged once. And by rough I mean theyre both under a year old and have nothing better to do but beat up on eachother. The one is full grown and giant and the second is half grown, but still giant.
That being said, our 2 cats absolutely love it. The third is indifferent about basically everything but we've caught her sitting in it 2x now. The fabric is super soft and the scratching posts seem to be well made. We're honestly debating buying another one, but smaller, for my boyfriends office.
Highly reccomend, and like I said it was easily half the price of the ones at petsmart. We got the grey one and it was grey (someone else said they got the grey one and it looked blue. Ours didn't)
Good. Great packing! Everything is wrapped in plastic and packaged well. All the pieces were there and fit together correctly. Assembly took about 2 hours which considering how complex it is was reasonable. The instructions were very well done for an import product. Good value for the money, super fast delivery.
Bad. Whoever designed it wasn’t a cat person at all. The two small scratch areas are worthless. They should have made it with more of the large scratch areas. The carpet it is covered in is so flimsy it is see-thru, this will not last forever.
Summary:
For the money it is a good deal but don’t expect it to last for years and years. I would recommend this product with the understanding that it isn’t the best out there but the price is very reasonable and I feel like I received good value for my money.
And I was correct.
It's smaller, but cats can get into some small places, and they can balance, comfortably, on some small objects (ie: a towel rack in the bathroom), so it not being as huge as other cat trees has not been an issue.
I put it all together, which was not difficult, and presented the tree to the cats. They love it. My full grown cats love it. The kitten loves it. They all use it, climb on it, sit inside one of the compartments or on the little levels, and not a single one of them has a problem with size.
I say don't be swayed by this just because it's smaller - your grown cat will use it. If you have an overweight cat, I can't vouch for that, but if you have a normal, healthy weight cat, it is not too small.
It is very sturdy. It has sisal on 3 of the posts (all running up one side) which is great for cats to scratch their claws. It has several levels for them to sit on, it has a little ramp, (which they ignore because they just jump around, instead), and it has 2 little cubbies, and yes, my adult cats have been inside the top cubby with no issue whatsoever.
I love the color - tired of cat trees all looking like apartment carpet - and it fits perfectly in the corner of the room. It's also holding up very well despite the fact that the cats have been jumping on it, leaping from it, climbing all over it, clawing the carpeting like material and the sisal.
The only thing that they've slayed and killed was the little ball hanging off of the string underneath the larger cubby. The ball on string at the top is still intact, thus far. No big deal, it's their playhouse, and they have been enjoying it since I put it up a month ago.
