The fabric does seem a bit thin and threadbare at the corners and edges, as if the pieces have just been rubbing against each other in storage while waiting to be assembled into a sellable kit.
As other have said, it does feel a bit unsteady, but part of this is also due to the bottom steps. That pieces is longer than the leg is, so if you are moving it around without noticing, it will not sit flat. While we are talking about those steps, the metal plates that are used to fasten them to the body of the tree, feel a bit flimsy themselves. I don't recommend moving this tree often. I am considering getting a weigh plate to set on the bottom platform to give it a little more stability.
Someone asked if it comes with a wall anchor. Either Jackie Bradley is full of BS, is shilling for Coziwow, or I got shorted more than just a bolt.
The sisal(?) ropes that are wrapped around the legs for scratching on the actual product do not cover the legs as much as the phones show
Don't rush through building this, the illustrations in the booklet leave much to be desired when it comes to details. Rather than illustrate the pieces clearer, they went the simplified route. I suggest keeping a tape measure nearby to make sure you are grabbing the right legs.
As another person asked and has been answered; yes, you do have to build the boxes and stretch what they label as flannelette covers over them. These frames could do with a little more detail in the illustrations so that you can line the holes for the bottom steps up as well as the mounting holes in the top box properly. The book suggests building both boxes at the same time, I didn't do this. I built the bottom box to make sure I could fit it properly into place and then worked my way up to the second box.
If you have an active scratcher for a cat, you might want to lay in a second layer of padding inside both boxes. None of the holes are counter-sunk, so your cat might snag their claws on the exposed bolt heads.
As I mentioned, I am 1 bolt short of 100% completion. The last 1.4inch screw to attach the final leg to the top of the second box.
Those are my critique points.
On the other hand, my kitten couldn't wait for me to finish building it. Before I even had the first mouse swinging in the air, she was already climbing and sniffing around. Once she saw it had mice, I couldn't keep her out of the work way. Since, I only have one kitten, I don't worry about the tree feeling a bit cramped. She isn't much of a jumper yet and this makes me feel better about her safety
Putting it together should be easy for someone who understands how to put things together. LOL. I am not handy at all, and struggle to put things together. The instructions state 20 minutes, and I am sure that's the case if you are good at such things. Definitely worth the cost, and I am so glad that I bought it,and of course so are my kitties. For some reason I have no option popping up for me to post photos. I wish I could show you the kitties in action.
