They fold and unfold with ease and are simple to use. Sturdy frame, safety hooks/latches and no slip textured stairs make me confident in using these for my precious pup, who has joint issues. Getting him in and out of the car became difficult as I had to start helping him since he lost his ability to jump up high enough for the SUV. Now he can just easily walk up or down the stairs. No worries about his joints or injuries.
At first it wasn't easy to get him to understand what they were and how to use them, but once the light bulb went off in his head, I think he is also happy to have these now!

You literally just hold the top and let it unfold like a folding patio chair. I stepped on the bottom rung to pull the top rung all the way up but you don't have to do that.
The 2 handles at the top sit on your car, or in our case top step, and then it has a carabiner clip to hook onto your cars trunk latch for safety. So dang smart.
When you're done, you again fold it up like a folding chair and the handles/straps are ready for you to carry it and put it away.
Genius steps and I can see using these for a LOT of purposes. Just supervise and make sure the top is secure if you aren't using the provided clip.
This stair ramp is very lightweight and folds up into a very compact square. I love the dog paw non-slip grippers on the fabric! My dog likes to get up onto the bed with me when it is storming, but I have to lift her up there, and at 55 pounds it is no easy feat! I have already positioned these stairs at the foot of the bed and they will work perfectly IF I can persuade her to use them. I won't know until she wants to get up onto the bed, so time will tell.
I thought the riser height from one step to the next seemed a bit high, but I measured and it is 7 1/2 inches, which is exactly the riser height of our stairs, which is standard.
I am very pleased with all aspects of this folding stair ramp. It is much better than the alternatives.
